Jewelry Care Instructions:
-
Gently wipe off your jewelry
by using a soft 100% cotton, lint free, cloth after wearing it. This
will remove any make-up, perfume, or skin oils.
-
I do not recommend using
ultrasonic or abrasive cleaners, such as toothpaste, or even
toothbrushes. Harsh chemicals or soaking your jewelry, even in water
for a short period of time, may harm the polish or treatment of the
stones.
-
For light cleaning use a
treated jewelry cloth for your brass, copper, gold, or silver
jewelry. When using a jewelry cloth, rub the surface to be polished
with medium pressure. The cloth will keep its cleaning action until
it is completely darkened. The cloth should then be disposed of. Do
not wash the cloth.
-
Do not use a metal cleaner.
Sometimes I use metals with a patina in some of my designs. By using
a metal cleaner you might remove that patina, or change the look of
the piece. Also, if used, a metal cleaner may cause damage to the
gold or precious silver. When precious metal jewelry requires a more
thorough cleaning gently wash it by hand in lukewarm water with a
tiny drop of mild liquid soap.
-
Allow the piece to dry
thoroughly before polishing and storing it. By storing your jewelry
individually you will prevent scratches to soft stones and metals.
To help prevent tarnish from forming on sterling silver (.925) you
should store your jewelry by wrapping it in a soft cotton cloth, or
an anti-tarnish jewelry bag.
Gemstone Care:
-
Semi-precious gemstone beads
are porous and will chip if not cared for properly.
When wearing your jewelry be careful to not knock them on hard
surfaces.
-
Make sure to put on your
cosmetics and perfume before adorning yourself with your jewelry.
Cosmetics and perfumes may contain substances that will discolor the
beads in your necklace.
-
Do not wear or leave your
jewelry exposed to high temperatures. You should remove your jewelry
when you plan to spend long hours in direct sunlight or before
entering a tanning both or sauna. Also do not wear your jewelry while bathing or
swimming. Both salt water and chlorine may damage them.
Pearl Care:
-
Pearls are porous, so special
care is needed.
-
When you dress put your
pearls on last to prevent direct contact with cologne, hair spray,
lotion, or make up. It is important to make sure they do not absorb
these.
-
Again, do not use
jewelry cleaners. Instead you should wipe your pearls gently with a
damp cloth.
-
Pearls are meant to
be worn. The oils from your skin help prevent the pearls from drying
out.
-
And lastly, I must advise you
not to store your pearls in zip-lock bags. If you do moisture can
build up inside a sealed bag which will then damage your pearls. I
recommend that you wrap your pearls in a jewelry tissue or soft
cotton cloth. You can also store them directly in a soft jewelry
bag.
By following these
simple guidelines you will have many years of enjoyment from your
precious adornments.
